I was contacted a few weeks ago about reviewing an aftershave balm called Epsilon made by Blaviar.  This is an after-shave balm that is being cross marketed as a cologne as well due to it’s stronger scent.   I do not have very many post shave products (at least in comparison to my soaps and razors) and was curious to try something new.  I received this product for free from the manufacturer in exchange for my thoughts.

I do not profess to being very good with scents, but it is a nice scent that my wife liked as well.  The marketing material describes the scent as:

“Upon first encountering our Epsilon fragrance, fresh, citrusy top notes of grapefruit, bergamot, Sicilian mandarin, and juniper make an intense, refreshing first impression. As the invigorating top notes fade away, middle notes of pepper, rosemary, and Brazilian rosewood emphasize a woody, aromatic spiciness. A distinctive blend of base notes consisting of incense, musk, and oakmoss provide the sensual backdrop to this modern, seductive composition.”

Once applied the scent is not overpowering but seemed to linger for a good few hours for myself (this will vary depending on skin type and activity).   As I said above, my wife liked it so that is a big plus for me.  The balm itself is advertised as Vegan / Alcohol Free / Paraben Free / Formaldehyde Free / Sulfate Free / Phthalate Free / Sodium Chloride Free.  I’m not sure how important those aspect are to you, but it can’t hurt 🙂

I used this for a week after my morning shave with both my straight razor and safety razors.  You only need a small dollop of product (less than a dime) to use for the area you shaved.  The balm was non-greasy and absorbed into the skin nicely.  The balm itself comes in 5 fluid ounces/150 ml of a creamy thick after-shave lotion.  Retail price on this is $25 at the time of writing this article (a little high for my spending habits) but it looks like it will last quite a long time.

All in all, I am quite satisfied with with Epsilon and would have no problem buying more when my current supply runs out.  If anyone is interested, I have included the ingredient list below:

Aqua, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Parfum, Propylene Glycol, Aloe Barbadensis Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Extract, Glycerin, PEG-40 Stearate, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Allantoin, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Argania Spinosa Oil, Olea Europaea Oil, Persea Gratissima Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Roe Extract, Sorbitan Tristearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil, BHT, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Linalool.

If this product review was helpful please share it with your friends or take a look at Epsilon when you get a chance.

Have a great day and a smooth shave!

Matt
